Нigh anti-microbial efficiency of photodynamic therapy and increase of nonspecific resistance of an organism are revealed in recent years. These facts form the basis for the use of this method in dentistry, particularly in periodontology, in endodontology and for treatment of dental caries. Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation approved and allowed the wide spread use in medical practice, the following medical technologies which employ in stomatology the topical agent Fotoditazin® :
PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY OF PERIODONTIUM DISEASES
- Periodontitis of different severity
- Gingivitis and inflammation of mucousa of oral cavity
- Intolerance of medical agents
- Patient’s refusal from conventional therapy
The essence of a method consists in destruction of cages of pathogenic microflora and pathologically changed tissues of paradontium after their interaction with the preparation "FOTODITAZIN" and then monochromatic medical laser irradiation which processed by a preparation "FOTODITAZIN".
Clinical trials confirmed efficiency of FDT with the preparation "FOTODITAZIN” in the following cases:
- peri-implant pathology
- bacterial and mycotic lesion of an oral cavity (stomatitis, etc.)
- treatment of dental caries
- sterilization of alveolar canals
- tooth whitening
After using of the preparation "FOTODITAZIN” disappear symptoms of inflammation, healing is accelerated and starkly the tissue immunity is increased, pain decreases.
Advantage of photodynamic influence is the possibility of local selective destruction of microbial cells arranged as surfactants and in the intercellular spaces without side effects on surrounding tissues and micro flora adjacent zones. The most optimal for the treatment of antiseptic preparation (canals radices) of teeth for use in clinical practice is used of photodynamic therapy with an time of an exposure 60 seconds.
For use of method of photodynamic therapy in the treatment of dentine caries ( pulpitis , periodontitis) , it is necessary to use laser light sources with a wavelength of 661-668 nm , output power of 200-300 mW/cm2.
Applying FDT the flexible end of light guide should be at 0.5-1 cm from the bottom of the decay cavity. Accordingly, the end of light guide is site at the disposal of 0.5-1 mm light guide from the top of the canals radices.
After applying photosensitiser in decay cavity (in the canals radices), it should be stay there during 1 minute.
